Reported thousands of letters. One sender. Let’s put it on the record.
If your business received a demand letter from Vivek Shah alleging a CIPA privacy violation, you can help document the pattern — no cost, no attorney required, and no obligation. This information will be compiled into a joint report to federal and state authorities.
Add your letter How this worksWhat this is — and isn’t
- 01This is a way to be counted. Individually, one letter can look like an isolated dispute. Collectively, thousands of nearly identical letters look like a pattern — and patterns are what get investigated.
- 02This is not a lawsuit, and adding your letter does not sign you up for one. It is not run by a law firm, does not offer legal advice, and does not create any attorney-client relationship.
- 03Information submitted here will be compiled into a consolidated report and sent to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, a local FBI field office, and the California Attorney General’s office — the agencies best positioned to evaluate a pattern like this.
- 04Participating costs nothing and commits you to nothing further. You choose whether to be contacted about anything else, including any separate civil litigation others may pursue.
What’s already on the public record
Similar letters have reportedly also been sent by other, separate senders (including some licensed firms). This page is currently focused on Vivek Shah specifically. If you received a letter from a different sender, you’re welcome to note that when you write in — it helps us know whether a broader effort is worth building later.
Add your letter to the report
Please include the following in your email, if available:
- 01Your company name, your name, and a contact email
- 02The state your business is located in
- 03The approximate date you received the letter, and which CIPA theory it cited (§ 631 or § 638.51), if you can tell
- 04The amount demanded, and whether you paid a settlement
- 05A copy of the letter itself, attached if possible
- 06If your letter came from someone other than Vivek Shah, please note who — we’re tracking whether this is happening with other senders too
Submitting your information by email costs nothing, does not sign you up for anything, and will be kept confidential. It will be compiled, along with other businesses’ information, into a report for law enforcement.
